Program Dates: 3 Weeks: July 10-July 30, 2011, in Jaipur, Delhi, and Udaipur
Perspectives India is designed to give students a broad understanding of India today and the promise and challenges of its future. Students will be able to witness first-hand the paradoxes, complexities, diversities, and remarkable growth achieved by the world's largest democracy. The program will be based in Jaipur for fifteen days with excursions to Delhi for four days and Udaipur for two. All experiences and classroom activities in Perspectives India are grouped into four broad themes to provide a sense of coherence, enabling the students to tie all of their learning together in a meaningful synthesis at the end of the program. In addition to their classes and time exploring various cites, students will be able to learn Hindi and take workshops on various topics from Indian dance to Indian medicine. Near the end of their stay in Jaipur, students will stay with a local family to better understand and appreciate life in contemporary India as well as take a one-day excursion to a village. Following their three-week program in Jaipur, students will be given an option to do a three-day thravel extension.
